Swallow Dell Primary School has a maximum of twelve Governors. We are all volunteers. Some of us are parents of children at the school, some are members of staff and some are local people.
The key thing we have in common is that we all care about Swallow Dell and the people who make up the community.
We support the school, the children, staff and parents to make this a school of choice. We meet five times a year as a full Governing Body for an overview of the work of the school. Minutes of these meetings are available from the school office.
We have four committees to consider specific areas in detail. All Governors serve on at least one committee. We monitor that all the school’s legal responsibilities are met. However the Governing Body’s main duty is to help raise standards of achievement and improve the well-being of our pupils. We do this in three ways:
- by guiding and supporting the strategic direction of the school.
- by asking challenging questions of the Head, Senior Leadership team and staff.
- by monitoring the performance and achievement of the school against set targets.
